An incredible country; however, sometimes willing to change too much. After spending a couple of months there, I came to appreciate and love the culture. My fear is that it will be crushed by the ever-consuming ideology of America, which is already taking place in Yangon. If you ever have the chance to visit northern Myanmar, you should. You will find it much different than Yangon, and to me, more beautiful. I miss Myanmar.
I wanted to, but we only had a week. So we spent it mostly in Bagan. And we loved it there!
What did you do in Northern Myanmar? How many months did you spend? 🙂
Before we left, I think we spent 4-5 days in Bagan–I don’t remember. It was incredible though as we just toured the entire plain on scooter.
My wife and I were working with a government program to educate English teachers and provide them with better linguistic backgrounds so that they could learn how to change their teaching methods in the classroom. We also spent two months in a rural village outside of Mandalay teaching English to grade 9 students.
I’d love to visit that place someday
Yes! You should visit Myanmar, especially Bagan. It’s really a wonderful country. And the people are very warm and friendly. 🙂
Great! Would like to speak with you soon and need your recommendation if ever I’ll visit there 😀
Really, really awesome shots! Keep up the good work!
Myanmar is on my bucket list. Hope to experience it one day.
Interesting and beautiful pics! What airline did you take going to Myanmar? Did make a do-it-yourself tour or availed of a tour package to get around? How much would you say is a budget per day in Myanmar for tourists visiting? Sorry for too many questions! =) would really want to visit someday
We took connecting flights (Airasia) to Myanmar from Manila.
Yes, it was a DIY trip. We often stay at guesthouses and/or hostels on most of our travels to limit our expenses.
With regards to the budget, it’s really hard to tell. I guess it depends whether you are a backpacker or a tourist-type. But Php500 a day is more than enough if you have a group to travel with.
Do visit Bagan! I’m sure you’ll love the sunrise. 🙂
Thanks Miguel! Will include it on my travel bucket list! 🙂
Now I am more excited for my Myanmar trip on March 2016. Thanks for this post!!
Amazing captures! What camera do you use? I would love to go to Myanmar someday, it is certainly on my list. Love your posts by the way!
