Mt. Pulag: Chasing the Sea of Clouds
I’ve witnessed countless sunsets on many of my travels. But never have I really tried waking up at dawn just to catch the sun’s first glimpse.
Amidst the muddy trail and the chilling air, I, along with three other friends, prepared the ascent under the blanket of darkness. We wanted to reach the summit just before the peek of twilight.
We walked past the vast field of dwarf bamboos sprawling across the entire mountain range. As the light slowly illuminated the sky, we began to see what we all came here for– the Sea of Clouds.
It took us two hours to reach the summit from our campsite. Just in time before the first sunbeam pierced through the clouds. Right before our eyes, a big ball of fire started to arise.
The clouds moved slowly, like a large flock of sheep grazing across the horizon. And as the sun crawled its way higher, white wool became golden fleece.
It was the perfect sunrise.
